Finding The Mattress That Fits Your Needs

Need a new mattress but don't know a pillow top from a plush? You're not alone. Studies indicate that most of us don't go mattress shopping very often. In the United States, the average person buys a new mattress every 8 to 10 years.

While some shopper's have simply converted the den into a guest room, and therefore need a mattress set, the vast majority of mattress shoppers are replacing old bedding. Specifically, people typically shop for mattresses for one of the following reasons:

  • They're waking up with aches and pains
  • A bed is lumpy or sagging
  • A bed is simply too soft or too hard to suit the owner's taste
  • Any combination of the above - the bed is no longer doing it's job!
There are 5 main categories of modern bedding. They are:
  • Firm (innerspring)
  • Plush (innerspring)
  • Pillowtop (innerspring)
  • Memory Foam (solid foam)
  • Air beds (air chambers)
